Installation Art By Claire Bishop
Chapter 2
MULTIMEDIA AND INSTALLATION ART
FMX 463-T • FALL 2018

I did not know that Installation Art could consist of lights sound and people, to participate, also that devices developed to include human participation, where object and subject come together.  Installation Art could be as simple as several sculptures or as complex as Carsten Holler's "Lichtwand (Light Wall)". I learnt that there were many different types of Installation Art such as "Minimalism" and "Light Space". I like how the perspective view from the onlooker was shifted from the single object to the relationship between each object.
I learnt that Installation Art could be a wide variety of things, from garbage to sculptures, to light and sound and also an empty space like Asher's 1970 Installation at Pomona College, California, almost anything in the world could be used to create Installation Art, including Live Installation, where the audience are encouraged to interact with the art. As I read along, I love how the transformation of Installation Art, evolved over the years, and is still evolving.
